Cancel a Substack paid subscription
Each Substack newsletter is its own subscription

Substack is a platform, not one company. Each paid newsletter you subscribe to is a separate billing relationship with that individual writer. Cancel each one separately - there is no "cancel all" button.

Substack billing explained

When you pay for a Substack newsletter, you are paying the individual writer directly (Substack takes a 10% cut). Each newsletter has its own monthly or annual price set by the author. You manage each subscription separately. If you have accumulated several paid newsletters, check substack.com/account/subscriptions for a full list with amounts.

If you were charged unexpectedly

Annual Substack subscriptions auto-renew. If you forgot about an annual plan and were just charged, email the writer directly - many will issue a refund if you reach out quickly. Substack itself can also help at substack.com/support.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cancel a paid Substack newsletter?
Click "Manage subscription" in any email from that newsletter, or go to substack.com/account/subscriptions and cancel from there.
Does canceling Substack stop all newsletters?
No. Each newsletter is separate. Canceling the paid tier keeps you on the free tier if the writer has one. Unsubscribe separately if you want to stop receiving emails.
Can I get a refund on a Substack subscription?
Contact the writer directly for a refund - they control refund decisions. Substack support can also assist at substack.com/support.
