Bitdefender auto-renewal - how it works
Bitdefender subscriptions auto-renew annually at the standard (non-promotional) rate, which is typically 2–3x the introductory price you paid. Log into Bitdefender Central at least 30 days before your renewal date to turn off auto-renewal or request a retention discount.
Refund after 30 days
After the 30-day guarantee window closes, Bitdefender does not typically issue refunds. If you believe you were charged incorrectly - for example, auto-renewed without sufficient notice - escalate to your credit card company for a chargeback, citing lack of adequate renewal notification.
Frequently asked questions
- Does turning off auto-renewal cancel my current subscription?
- No. Turning off auto-renewal only prevents the next charge. Your existing subscription continues until its expiry date, and Bitdefender protection remains active throughout.
- Can I get a refund on a Bitdefender auto-renewal?
- If you act within 30 days of the renewal charge, yes - contact Bitdefender support and cite the 30-day money-back guarantee. After 30 days, a chargeback with your bank is your best option if you believe the charge was unfair.
- How do I transfer my Bitdefender license to a new computer?
- Log into central.bitdefender.com → My Devices, remove the old device, and install Bitdefender on the new device using the same account. You don't need to cancel and repurchase.
