Export your data before you cancel

After cancellation, your Monarch account and all transaction history become inaccessible. Go to Settings → Data → Export CSV before you cancel - you cannot retrieve this data afterward.

Connected accounts disconnect on cancellation

All bank and investment account connections are severed when you cancel. If you rejoin later, you'll need to reconnect all your accounts and some historical data may not reimport correctly.

Charged after canceling?

Monarch Money vs YNAB vs Copilot

Monarch Money ($99.99/yr) competes directly with YNAB ($109/yr) and Copilot ($69.99/yr). All three sync accounts and support budgeting; Monarch and Copilot are more automated, YNAB requires manual entry discipline. If you're canceling Monarch, consider whether a different tool fits your workflow better before quitting budgeting software entirely.

Refund policy

Monarch Money does not offer prorated refunds for annual subscriptions. If you were just charged and haven't used the service, contact support@monarchmoney.com within a few days - they have been known to provide courtesy refunds for recent charges.

Frequently asked questions

Does Monarch Money have a free tier?
Monarch Money is subscription-only with no permanent free tier. They offer a 7-day free trial. After cancellation, you lose access to all features.
Can I transfer my Monarch Money data to another app?
Yes. Export a CSV from Settings → Data → Export before canceling. Most budgeting apps (YNAB, Copilot, Tiller) can import transaction CSVs, though categories may need remapping.
What happens to my connected bank accounts when I cancel?
All account connections are disconnected when you cancel. Your bank accounts themselves are unaffected - Monarch simply loses read-only access to your transaction data.
