What Guardian supporters get
Guardian supporters receive ad-free browsing (on eligible plans), access to the Guardian Editions app for offline reading, the supporter newsletter, and the satisfaction of supporting independent journalism. These are the perks you lose when you cancel - not article access.
Refund policy
The Guardian does not offer prorated refunds for the current billing period. For billing errors, contact userhelp@theguardian.com within 30 days. Annual contributors who want to cancel immediately after renewal can request a goodwill refund by contacting support directly.
Frequently asked questions
- Will I lose access to Guardian articles if I cancel?
- No. The Guardian is free for everyone - there is no paywall. Canceling only removes supporter perks like ad-free browsing and the Editions app.
- Can I reduce my Guardian contribution instead of canceling?
- Yes. In Manage subscription, you can change the amount of your monthly or annual contribution. Lowering your contribution rather than canceling is an option if budget is the concern.
- How do I cancel my Guardian contribution if I set it up via PayPal?
- If you set up your Guardian contribution through PayPal, log into your PayPal account → Settings → Payments → Automatic Payments and cancel the Guardian agreement there.
