Check who billed you first

If you downloaded an app on iPhone and subscribed through it, Apple billed you - not Google. You must cancel through Apple's Settings > Subscriptions, not Google Play.

Pausing is available for some subscriptions

Google Play lets you pause many subscriptions for 1–3 months instead of canceling outright. Look for a Pause option before canceling if you just need a break.

What happens after you cancel a Google Play subscription

You keep access through the end of the current billing period. Google does not issue prorated refunds for cancellations, but you can request a refund within 48 hours of a charge at play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory.

Google Play refund policy

For subscriptions charged in the last 48 hours that you haven't used, you can request a refund directly in your order history. After 48 hours, contact the app developer. Google's own refund policy applies to Google-developed apps like Google One.

Frequently asked questions

I canceled on Google Play but I'm still being charged. Why?
If the charge is from Apple or your carrier, Google Play cancellation won't stop it. Check who the merchant is on your bank statement and cancel with that entity.
Can I get a refund on a Google Play subscription?
Within 48 hours of a charge, yes - request one at play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory. After 48 hours, contact the app developer directly.
Does canceling a Google Play subscription delete my app data?
No. Canceling the subscription billing doesn't delete your data. The app may restrict features, but your data usually remains until you uninstall or the app removes it.
